"Delicious! Mouth-watering! Delightful!" These are only a
few of the
comments from the
visitors and guests who have
enjoyed the breakfasts,
lunches and suppers served at the Silver Hills Guest
House. So impressed were they with our meals that they
invariably ask us for our recipes. So, here they are - The Best of Silver Hills, a collection of our favorite
and most frequently requested recipes.
For the past 12 years, Eileen and Debbie Brewer had been preparing and serving wholesome and delicious vegetarian meals at the Silver Hills Guest House, which was located in the Mabel Lake Valley of southern British Columbia. This country retreat had gained an international reputation for its hearty stews, tasty 'meat' loaves, 'cream' sauces, gravies, breads, ice creams and desserts - all made without meat or dairy products.
Eileen began cooking without animal products when she learned that her daughter Debbie was born lactose intolerant or allergic to milk. Says Eileen, ''It
put a determination in my heart to develop recipes that were not only healthy and dairy-free but also tasted good. Now, with Debbie by my side, we have
created a variety of vegetarian meals and menus that will appeal to almost any appetite. For us, cooking is fun and exciting, and we are delighted to be able, to share our favorite recipes with you."
